Iodine
Essential mineral for the synthesis of thyroid hormones (T3, T4). Iodine deficiency is the most common preventable cause of hypothyroidism in the world.
What is it for?
💡 Absorption: Iodized salt is the main source. Kelp may contain excessive and unpredictable amounts. Selenium is a necessary cofactor.
⚠️ Caution: UL: 1100mcg/day. Excess can cause both hypo- and hyperthyroidism. Contraindicated in active Hashimoto thyroiditis without medical supervision.
🏥 Contraindications

El exceso de yodo puede empeorar tanto el hipertiroidismo (Graves) como el hipotiroidismo autoinmune (Hashimoto).
